The VfB 05 Knielingen is a football club from the Karlsruhe district Knielingen .

history

The club has its roots in the Germania football club , which was founded on June 12, 1905. In 1909 the club merged with FC Viktoria, which was founded in 1906, to form the Knielinger Football Club in 1905 . As in other places in Germany, the workers ' football club Arbeiter-SV 1926 Knielingen was established in Knielingen in 1926, parallel to the civil sports clubs . After this was banned after the National Socialists came to power, the Knielinger football club and the workers' sports club merged to form VfB 05 Knielingen in 1933 .

In 1941 , VfB Knielingen, which was second-rate at the time, took part in the Tschammer Cup , the forerunner of today's DFB Cup, and caused a stir throughout Germany. Benefiting from the soldiers stationed in the Knielingen barracks, they had such a strong team that defeated renowned clubs such as Karlsruher FV , Phönix and VfB Mühlburg or the Alsatian champions FC Schweighausen , who had five national players , in the regional qualification . This made VfB among the last 64 teams in Germany. Then came the end in the first main round at the Stuttgarter Kickers . While they had their entire first team - with the national players Edmund Conen and Albert Sing at the top - almost the entire team was called up for military service at VfB, so that almost exclusively juniors had to be sent to Stuttgart. The subsequent 0:17 defeat is still the highest result ever achieved in the German club cup. In the following season the Knielinger were able to build on the cup successes in the league and qualified for the promotion round to the first-class Gauliga Baden . There they failed, however, against opponents such as FV Daxlanden .

After the end of the Second World War, VfB Knielingen qualified for the state league, which later became the North Baden amateur league . After relegation in 1949, the club was able to return to the amateur upper house again in the seasons 1952/53 , 1968/69 and from 1970 to 1978. After one could not qualify for the newly created Oberliga Baden-Württemberg with rank 15 in the 1977/78 round , the club played for a few years in the association or state league until it slipped into the A-class over time . Since the 2005/06 season, VfB Knielingen has played its association games in the now single-track Karlsruhe district league.

With the move to the new "Sportpark Knielingen" site in September 2012, the club now has two grass pitches and one hard court. There is also a training hall on the premises belonging to TV Knielingen.
