Victor Steven "Vic" Wunderle (born March 4, 1976 in Lincoln , Illinois ) is an American archer .

Career

Wunderle's father, Terry Wunderle, is an archery coach and first took his son to an archery competition when he was seven.

Victor Wunderle first took part in the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000 . There he won the silver medal in the individual competition behind the Australian Simon Fairweather and ahead of Wietse van Alten from the Netherlands. He also won the bronze medal together with Butch Johnson and Rodney White in the team competition behind South Korea and Italy. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Wunderle, together with Butch Johnson and John Hagera in fourth place behind South Korea , the Chinese Taipei and the Ukraine, narrowly missed another medal. He finished eighth in the individual competition. In 2008 he started in Beijing for the last time at the Olympics.

At the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung , Wunderle won the gold medal in the individual competition with the recurve bow .

In 2016 Wunderle tried again to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro .

His hobbies are hunting , fishing and playing the guitar .
