history
The name of the city got its name in honor of Abraham Lincoln , who temporarily worked as a lawyer in the city. However, it is the only city in the United States that took that name before Abraham Lincoln became president. The new Logan County Courthouse was built in 1905 on the site of the old, dilapidated Justice Building. This courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 .
Today, Lincoln is of touristic importance for its connection to President Abraham Lincoln and as a nostalgic stopover on the trail of historic Route 66.
