Vicente Amorim (* 1966 in Vienna , Austria ) is a multiple award-winning Brazilian film director , screenwriter and film producer who became internationally known for films such as Good , Motorrad - The Last Ride or City of Abduction - The kidnapping of Camila Couto .

life and career

Vicente Amorim, born in Vienna in 1966, is the son of the Brazilian diplomat and politician Celso Amorim , who was studying at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna at the time . Vicente came to Rio de Janeiro at a young age , where he later studied economics and film at the Federal University of Fluminense . In the early 1990s he began his career as a director, screenwriter and producer of short and documentary films, after working as an assistant on films by directors such as Paul Mazursky and Héctor Babenco .

In 2003 he made his first own feature film, a romantic drama for the cinema under the title O Caminho das Nuvens with Wagner Moura in the leading role. In 2008 he directed the international film production Good , a war drama starring Viggo Mortensen , Jason Isaacs and Jodie Whittaker . This was followed by the history thriller Corações Sujos with Tsuyoshi Ihara in 2011 , the fantasy drama Rio in 2014 , Eu Te Amo with Basil Hoffman and Emily Mortimer , in the same year the film drama Irmã Dulce with Regina Braga, and in 2017 the horror thriller Motorrad with Guilherme Prates or 2020 the action thriller City of Abduction - The Abduction of Camila Couto .

Vicente Amorim, who grew up internationally, is fluent in English, Portuguese, French and Spanish. He has received numerous nominations and awards for his films at international film festivals.
