Victor Alexander Nithander (born May 2, 1987 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish chess player .

Life

Victor Nithander attended LM Engströms Gymnasium in Gothenburg until 2006 and studied in the city at Chalmers University of Technology .

successes

In 2004 and 2005 he won the individual championship of the Gothenburg chess district. In February 2007 he won the Nordic championship in school chess in Reykjavík . At the Swedish Junior Championships in July of the same year in Stockholm , he was second behind Nils Grandelius .

He played club chess in Sweden until 2014 for the Gothenburg club Schacksällskapet Manhem . In the highest Swedish league, the Elitserien , he played for the first time in the 2002/03 season . Since the 2008/09 season he played on Manhem's top board, until the 2012/13 season in the Elitserien, then in the Superettan . From the 2014/15 season to the 2016/17 season he played for SK Team Viking , with whom he became Swedish team champion in 2015 and 2017 and took part in the European Club Cup 2015 in Skopje .

Since January 2010 he has held the title of International Master . He achieved all the norms for this with over-fulfillment: at the Rilton Cup 2008/09 in Stockholm, at the Gibraltar Masters in February 2009 and at the Manhem Chess Week , an IM tournament in Gothenburg in August 2009. His Elo rating is 2417 (as of: December 2018), but he is listed as inactive because he has not played an Elo-rated game since the 2016/17 season of the Elitserien. His highest rating to date was 2455 from April to July 2013.
