Victor Valderrabano

Victor Manuel Valderrabano (* 19th September 1972 ; heimatberechtigt in Zurich ) is a Swiss orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist with the Disease sports trauma , arthritis surgery and reconstructive surgery of the lower extremity.

Career

Victor Valderrabano studied human medicine at the University of Zurich and received his doctorate there for Dr. med. At the University of Calgary he completed a second Ph.D. in biomechanics and osteoarthritis research. After professional positions at the University Hospital Basel and the Hospital Davos , he became a specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology in 2006. In 2005 Valderrabano received the certificate of competence for sports medicine from the Swiss Society for Sports Medicine. In 2006, Valderrabano received his habilitation at the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel for orthopedic and traumatological surgery and in 2009 was appointed professor for orthopedic and traumatological surgery. From 2009 to 2014 Valderrabano was chief physician at the Orthopedic University Clinic at the University Hospital Basel. Since January 2015 he has been practicing as head of orthopedic traumatology at the Pain Clinic Basel of the Swiss Genolier private clinic group GSMN.

Special areas and treatment focuses

Valderrabano is a specialist in orthopedic and traumatological surgery of the lower extremities (hip, knee, foot and ankle). His treatment focuses also include osteoarthritis surgery, joint-preserving surgery (cartilage reconstruction, osteotomies), prosthetics (joint replacement), sports orthopedics, traumatology and the reconstruction of post-traumatic conditions. Ua Dario Cologna , Boris Becker , Victor Röthlin , Mame Diouf and Didier Ya Konan could be treated by Valderrabano.

Scientific achievements

Valderrabano has published numerous scientific articles, clinical and scientific book chapters and books. His research interests include: a. Arthrosis, ankle joint arthrosis, ankle joint prosthetics, sports foot injuries, tibialis posterior insufficiency, biomechanics, ankle joint instability, ankle joint arthroscopy, pedobarography and gait analysis. Valderrabano founded the Osteoarthritis Research Center Basel.
