Mame Biram Diouf (born December 16, 1987 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football player who is under contract with Stoke City .
Club career
Mame Diouf began his career at home with ASC Diaraf . Through the mediation of his compatriots Madio Konate and Pape Paté Diouf , who were already under contract with the Norwegian club Molde FK , he completed a trial training there under the then coach Arild Stavrum , in which he was able to convince. After the hapless acting Stavrum was dismissed by Molde, his commitment was delayed until January 2007. Molde had just been relegated to the Adeccoligaen after eleven years in the top division and tried to get promoted immediately. Mame Diouf struck immediately and became the team's top scorer with ten goals this season. Molde was the most balanced team and at the end of the season celebrated the championship title and the associated promotion from the Adeccoligaen. When he stood out in the Tippeligaen with strong performances in the following season, he attracted the interest of various scouts. FC Groningen , FC Arsenal , Feyenoord Rotterdam , West Bromwich Albion and FC Red Bull Salzburg, among others, were interested in him.
In July 2009, Manchester United announced the signing of the player. ManUtd coach Alex Ferguson then commented on the move in an interview:
“Actually, we didn't want to sign anyone anymore because we have a complete team. But we watched this young player for two years and when other clubs submitted offers we had to react. "
Until the beginning of 2010, however, the striker stormed on loan for Molde. This agreement met ManUtd and Molde in the transfer negotiations for the player.
In the 2009 season he then improved again and scored 16 goals in 29 season appearances. He missed the top scorer's crown by one goal. Molde also celebrated the runner-up title at the end of the season thanks to his strong performances. A highlight was the 5-2 win over Brann Bergen on July 12, 2009. Mame Diouf scored a hat trick in the first nine minutes and also scored the fourth Molde goal in the 27th minute.
In August 2010 it was awarded to the Blackburn Rovers . In his third league game, he scored his first goal for Blackburn in the 2-1 loss to Arsenal.
During the 2011/12 winter break, he moved to first division team Hannover 96 . The transfer fee was less than 2 million euros. He signed a contract with Lower Saxony until 2014. On February 4, 2012 (20th matchday) Diouf made his debut for 96 in a 1-0 away win against Hertha BSC . Here he was substituted on for Manuel Schmiedebach in the second half and provided the template for Mohammed Abdellaoue's only goal .
Diouf scored his first Bundesliga goal for Lower Saxony on February 19, 2012 (22nd matchday) to an intermittent 2-0 in a 4-2 home win against VfB Stuttgart . In the Europa League , he met for the first time on February 23, 2012 against Club Brugge, until Hanover was eliminated after the quarter-finals, he met a total of four times in this competition. Until his injury-related substitution on matchday 30 and the premature end of the season resulting from the ankle injury, Mame Diouf scored six goals for Hannover in ten Bundesliga games. In the summer of 2014, he did not renew his expiring contract.
Diouf then moved back to the Premier League and signed a four-year contract with Stoke City .
National team
As early as 2004, he played in the Senegalese U-20 national team , for which he completed a total of 18 games in which he scored seven goals. In 2009 he made his debut in a friendly in Paris against the DR Congo for Senegal ; But Senegal lost the game 2-0.
