Liam Lindsay (born October 12, 1995 ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Stoke City . He is the nephew of former soccer player Ricky Gillies .

Career

Liam Lindsay joined Partick Thistle in 2012 . For the club from Glasgow , the central defender played a year in the U-17 and reserve team. On the last day of the 2012/13 season , Lindsay made his debut with the established second division champions in the game against FC Dumbarton . After he was not used in the first division season 2013/14 , Lindsay was awarded to Alloa Athletic from January to June 2014 . There he completed 10 second division games. After returning to Partick , he played in the Scottish Premiership for the first time on January 4, 2015 . In the game against Dundee United , Lindsay was even in the starting line-up. On January 29, 2015, 19-year-old Lindsay was awarded to Airdrieonians FC for five months . At the Scottish third division club Lindsay scored his first professional goal in the game against FC Peterhead , which was also the winning goal in the 1-0 away win. Back in Glasgow, Lindsay played a total of 25 league games in the 2015/16 season and scored once in the opposing goal. On the first eight match days of the 2016/17 season , the tall innervender was very accurate and scored three goals with a header.

In June 2017, the talented 21-year-old moved to Barnsley FC in England for an undisclosed fee . Two years later he was transferred to Stoke City for £ 2 million .
