Video match

El Show de Videomatch was a humor show on Argentine television that aired between 1990 and 2004. In 2005 she changed her name to Showmatch , combined with a significant change in concept.

description

Videomatch began as a sports program on Telefe in 1990 . However, due to unsuccessfulness, the concept was completely turned inside out that same year. The team of hosts noted that the most successful sections were those that featured low quality sports videos with ironic comments. So the show was converted into a humor format from 1991, whereupon the ratings soon rose sharply and the show became one of the most successful programs in Argentina.

The concept of the show included a hidden camera and various parodies of political life and show business in Argentina, which were often shown in the form of music. Humorous sports segments also remained in the beginning, but then lost their importance. It has been moderated by Marcelo Tinelli since the beginning .

In 1998 Tinelli won the Martín Fierro de Oro Radio Prize for his work on the show . Until 2004, apart from brief interruptions, it was still broadcast in Telefe and normally had good ratings. In 2005, however, a dispute broke out between Tinelli and the Telefe program directors. As a consequence, the show moved to Canal 9 and changed its name to Showmatch . The concept was also greatly changed, instead of humor, competitions (initially diverse, then more selective, such as dance , singing and figure skating competitions ) were presented.

In particular, the dance competition Bailando por un Sueño , which was introduced in 2006 after another channel switch to Canal 13 and was a humorous adaptation of the British game show format Strictly Come Dancing , was a great success.
