Wiktoria "Viki" Gabor (born July 10, 2007 in Hamburg ) is a Polish singer . In 2019 she won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Gliwice with the song Superhero .

life and career

Gabor was born in Hamburg into a Polish Roma family. After her birth, the family moved back to Poland and later to the United Kingdom . When she was seven years old, she and her family returned to Poland, where they settled in Krakow . Gabor has an older sister named Melisa who works as a composer and songwriter.

At the end of 2018, Gabor took part in the second season of The Voice Kids Poland . She was part of the Tomson & Baron team and ultimately reached the finals, where she presented her debut single Time . After The Voice Kids , Gabor performed her single at the Young Choice Awards at the Top of the Top Sopot Festival 2019 .

In 2019 Gabor took part in the Polish national preliminary decision for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 , Szansa na sukces . There she won the final with her song Superhero . At the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Gliwice on November 24th, Viki Gabor won with 278 points after taking second place in the expert jury and first place in the audience vote. Viki Gabor thus secured the second victory for Poland at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It was also the first win for a host country and the first time a country won two years in a row.

Since then, Gabor has released several singles, her first album called Getaway (Into My Imagination) is due to be released on September 4, 2020 .

Private

The Polish media claim that Viki Gabor is at odds with Roksana Węgiel . The reason for this is a similar age and the status of both as Polish winners of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Both denied this, and Gabor also called Węgiel “a great girl”.
