Viktor Dulger (born December 18, 1935 in Klöstitz , Kingdom of Romania ; † March 21, 2016 ) was a German engineer, inventor, entrepreneur and patron of art and science of Bessarabian German origin. He lived in Heidelberg .

life and work

Viktor Dulger was born in Bessarabia and grew up near Gdansk . He made a new start after the Second World War in Baden-Württemberg . After completing his degree in mechanical engineering in 1957 , he immediately worked for the German branch of an American food company.

Founding his own company Prominent GmbH in 1960 was the step towards independence. At the same time, he submitted his most important patent to date, the invention of a powerful pump that represented a groundbreaking advance for the smallest dosing quantities in the areas of drinking water, food additives and medical technology. Within a very short time, he developed solutions in numerous areas of process engineering, especially in the area of ​​electronically controlled diaphragm dosing technology. More than 50 personal patents are registered in Germany and the industrialized countries and form the basis of the successful expansion of his company into a global group of companies.

His two sons Rainer and Andreas and another managing director have been running the group since 2001 , with Rainer Dulger also being President of Gesamtmetall and President of the Baden-Württemberg Employers' Association. Viktor Dulger has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since then.

Awards

Viktor Dulger has received numerous honors and awards for his life's work. In 1982 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. In 1996, Federal President Viktor Dulger awarded the Order of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany. His worldwide activities were recognized in 1986 when he was appointed Honorary Consul for the Republic of Malta in Baden-Württemberg. In 1997 the federal government issued the exequatur and approved the promotion to honorary consul general for the consular district of Baden-Württemberg. In 1994 Viktor Dulger received the distinction of honorary professor at the Technical University of the Chinese port city of Dalian , and in 1996 he received an honorary doctorate. Viktor Dulger had been an honorary citizen of the Chinese port city since 1997. In 2000 he was awarded the Richard Benz Medal for Art and Science from the City of Heidelberg . In 1990 the institute awarded him the title of senator for his continuous support of the University of Heidelberg, and in 1995 he received the honorary university medal. He also received the Diesel medal in gold. In April 2009, Prime Minister Günther Oettinger awarded Viktor Dulger the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg . In 2001 Dulger was awarded the National Order of Merit .

Foundations and Awards

Viktor Dulger was known in Heidelberg for his services to art and culture as well as his support for numerous social institutions. He was characterized by a constant commitment to contemporary art. For example, to mark the 25th anniversary of his group of companies, he donated a highly regarded sculpture to the citizens of Heidelberg on Bismarckplatz. In 1993 Viktor Dulger received the Lorenz Werthmann Medal, the founding medal of the German Caritas Association, for exceptional donations for disabled children. Numerous institutions such as the German Center for Music Therapy Research - since 1997 the Viktor Dulger Institute - have been supported by him since it was founded. Particularly noteworthy is the establishment of the Sigrid and Viktor Dulger Foundation, which awards the Heidelberg University Environmental Prize and the Dulger Prize for Technical Sciences from the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences. The foundation also supports the best apprentice training graduates from the IHK Rhein-Neckar.
