Viktor Ergert

Viktor Ergert (* 1918 in Vienna ; † 1984 ) was an Austrian historian , publicist and journalist for Austrian radio .

Life

Ergert studied journalism at the University of Vienna and did his doctorate at the Journalism Institute of the University of Vienna.

From 1957 he worked as a journalist for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation. Here he was u. a. entrusted with the tasks of media and opinion research and dealt in detail with the history of Austrian broadcasting.

The first result of his work was his 1964 publication “40 Years of Radio in Austria”. In 1974 Ergert published the first volume of his comprehensive four-volume work "50 Years of Radio in Austria", a historical documentation of Austrian radio from 1924 to 1974. The second volume followed in 1975 and the third volume in 1977. Ergert died before the completion of the fourth volume, which was completed with the assistance of Hellmut Andics and Robert Kriechbaumer and published in 1985.

On August 7, 1984 Ergert was buried at the Kagran cemetery (group A, no. 18).
