Viktor Mitrou

Viktor Mitrou (born June 24, 1973 in Vlora ) is a former Greek weightlifter .

Career

The Albanian-born Mitrou reached seventh place in the class up to 76 kg at the 1993 World Championships . At the European Championships in 1994 he was fourth in a duel and won silver in jerking. In 1995 he was ninth at the European Championships . At the European Championships in 1996 he won gold in pushing and bronze in duels and snatches. In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he was fourth. At 357.5 kg he had the same result as the bronze medalist Jon Chol-ho , but Mitrou was 200 grams heavier.

In 1998 he reached fourth place in a duel at the World Championships and won bronze in the push in the class up to 77 kg. At the 1999 World Championships , he was runner-up. In 2000 he won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney, where the Olympic champion Zhan Xugang like Mitrou lifted 367.5 kg, but was 280 grams lighter. In 2004 he was sixth at the European Championships . In the same year he took part in his third Olympic Games in Athens , where he finished fourth. Again he had the same result as the third Reyhan Arabacıoğlu , this time he was 70 grams heavier. In 2007 he took twelfth place in the class up to 85 kg at the World Championships . During a training check in 2008, Mitrou and ten other members of the Greek national team tested positive and then banned for two years.
