Viktor Pipal

Viktor Pipal (born November 29, 1887 in Šamac , Bosnia , † December 8, 1971 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter.

Viktor Pipal was a teacher by profession, but also trained artistically in a variety of ways. He attended courses and seminars at the Vienna School of Applied Arts , frequented the graphic teaching and research institute and lectures with Josef Strzygowski at the University of Vienna . Pipal also took private lessons from Franz Rumpler . After experiments on the subject of painting and music, Pipal became the “painter of the Viennese suburbs” in the 1930s.

In addition to picturesque, often dramatically exaggerated motifs from Hernals , Grinzing , Döbling, etc. Pipal also devoted himself to portraits and still lifes. He was part of the Zinkenbach painters' colony , exhibited at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, and received numerous honors. He had been a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus since 1936 and was appointed professor by the Federal President in 1949.
