The Victoria Square (or Viktoria sports field ) was a football stadium in Magdeburg in today's state of Saxony-Anhalt . It was the venue of the soccer club Magdeburg FC Viktoria 1896 .
history
Since Cracauer Anger was closed by the military in 1905, FC Viktoria moved to the area called Viktoria-Platz on Gübser Damm . Immediately after the Second World War , FC Viktoria was dissolved by the Allies and not re-established, which meant that the square was initially no longer used. In 1955 the Ernst-Grube-Stadion was opened on the same ground , which for a long time served as a home for 1. FC Magdeburg and was demolished in 2005. Today the MDCC arena is located in the same place .
use
In 1914 the final of the German soccer championship between SpVgg Fürth and VfB Leipzig took place here.
