Vil Radio was a private radio broadcaster that could be heard in the greater Nuremberg area ( Middle Franconia and neighboring regions). The program focus was on German-language music of all styles.

In October 1995, Vil Radio, based in Nuremberg, began broadcasting in the cable network and in digital DAB ; it was only later broadcast via VHF. In the run-up to the shutdown of the station, the moderator and owner of the station, Matthias Lenardt, pointed out that he understood radio as a kind of life counseling and that he wanted to shift his mentoring and coaching service from radio to direct contact in the future.

The BLM stated the program format: “A wide range of all musical styles: instrumental, contemporary pop , jazz , classics, soul and blues , rock , Latin American rhythms , folklore ”. The target group were the 20 to 68 year old radio listeners.

The program concept was expanded at the beginning of 2014. Without completely renouncing the old program concept, a new program focus was added with German-language music ranging from folk to rock. The broadcaster described its musical profile as “variety without repeated tracks within a day.” The editorial part of the program included messages that u. a. Culture and science embrace and a positive attitude without “negative and terrifying reports.” In addition, there was cooperation with regional bands for which the station had offered itself as a production and programming platform.

A second live stream, vilradio - International , was broadcast exclusively on the Internet with the focus on international music.

reception

The program was broadcast over the FM frequencies 91.0 MHz with 0.5 kW ERP and 96.4 MHz with 1 kW ERP. A special feature was that the program from Nuremberg was not broadcast via VHF, unlike the other local stations, from the Nuremberg telecommunications tower by Media Broadcast , but via a private transmission system located in Fürth next to the Sparkasse headquarters to the northwest of the main train station. From there, the program was broadcast over both frequencies at different angles.

Since the end of April 1999, Vil Radio was one of the first five programs in Bavaria to be broadcast regularly via DAB , although at that time it was still in the low-range L-band. Later Vil Radio was on DAB + in Volume III on Channel 10C from the Nuremberg Telecommunications Tower in the entire Nuremberg area, i. H. can be heard in large parts of Middle Franconia and the neighboring Upper Franconia as far as Forchheim . On March 16, 2015, the program was switched off via the DAB + distribution channel, and FM was switched off on April 1. The VHF frequencies were assigned to Star FM Nuremberg (96.4 MHz) and egoFM (91.0 MHz).

The program could also be heard on web radio and on the local cable networks.
