Vila-seca is a Catalan city in the province of Tarragona in northeastern Spain . It is in the comarca of Tarragonès .
The city is located ten kilometers from the provincial capital Tarragona and four kilometers from the Mediterranean coast inland. The towns of La Pineda on the coast and La Plana also belong to the city. Until 1989, Salou also belonged to the municipality under the name Vila-seca i Salou.
The economy is based on the chemical industry in the Tarragona area and on tourism on the Costa Daurada . The PortAventura World leisure resort is partly located in the municipality.
Vila-seca is located on European route 15 and is connected to Tarragona by a railway line.
