Vila Chã is a municipality in northwestern Portugal .

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in a deed of donation from the year 1033. The municipality is in the royal registers of the year 1258 with two localities in its area, Vila Chã and Mirance (Mirante). The area belonged to the School of the Society of Jesus in Braga, later the University of Coimbra .

The municipality of Vila Chã belonged to the Maia County from the beginning until it was incorporated into the Vila do Conde County in 1836 as part of the numerous administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1820 and the subsequent Miguelistenkrieg (1832-1834).
