Villa Eduard-Bilz-Strasse 20

The Villa Eduard-Bilz-Straße 20 is located in the original district of Alt-Radebeul in the Saxon city of Radebeul , directly north of Meißner Straße on a corner property that tapers at an acute angle. It was built in 1873 by the Ziller brothers .

description

The country house-like villa , which is now a listed building , is of a similar house type to the villas at Eduard-Bilz-Straße 31/33/35 , built around five years later , but with a steeper roof, which results in larger living space there.

The one-and-a-half-story building, which faces the street at the eaves, has a high knee floor above its ground floor . The converted attic has a protruding saddle roof , formerly with decorations in the Swiss style . In the street view, there is a two-storey risalit in the middle with a coupling window in the rafter gable. In the risalit there is an exit to the front garden. Presumably there used to be a veranda . On the back the roof shows a dormer window .

The southern gable side of the building shows a small round window in the top of the gable, including a twin coupling window and two flanking narrow windows. In the middle of the ground floor there is a niche with a putto with a cornucopia , made as a concrete sculpture. There are also windows to the side.

The plastering is structured by fine plaster grooves . The windows of the plastered building with plastered plinths are framed by walls made of sandstone, some of which have horizontal roofs.

There is an extension at the rear of the building. Also on the right side of the building is a single-storey, five-axis extension with triangular gables. In the center are three of the windows in a risalit, the gable of which is surrounded by a cornice . This extension was built in 1924 for a cardboard box factory by the architect and builder Josef Karl Rösler, whereby a design by the Saxon Heritage Protection Association had to be taken into account.

The enclosure consists of iron fence panels between concrete pillars.
