Vincent Schirrmacher (* 1978 in China ) is a German opera singer (tenor) of Asian origin.

Career

Schirrmacher was born in China, his mother was British-Chinese and his father was Mongolian-Japanese. He grew up in London and took piano lessons from early childhood. From 1996 Vincent Schirrmacher studied music education at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Juilliard School in New York. He then went to Germany to study singing. From 2000 to 2001 Vincent Schirrmacher took private lessons from Raimund Gilvan. From 2001 to 2008 he studied singing with Josef Protschka at the Cologne University of Music and Dance . Schirrmacher has lived in Vienna since 2009 . Michael Pabst has been responsible for his voice since then.

Shortly after and during his studies, Vincent Schirrmacher took part in singing competitions and was touring the world as a concert singer. He also worked as a broadcaster for the WDR in Cologne. From the 2008/2009 season Vincent Schirrmacher was a member of the ensemble of the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater in Flensburg .

In summer 2009, Schirrmacher was discovered by the director of the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl , Michael Lakner . Schirrmacher made his Austrian debut in Bad Ischl in the role of Prince Sou-Chong in The Land of Smiles , the masterpiece by Franz Lehár, and thus became a “Shooting Star”. This was followed by his debut as Sou-Chong in December 2009 at the Vienna Volksoper . Schirrmacher has been a permanent member of the ensemble there since the 2010/2011 season.

In addition, Schirrmacher has made guest appearances at the State Opera in Prague , the Tyrolean State Theater Innsbruck , the State Theater Tartu , the City Theater Košice , in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and at the WDR Cologne , Müpa Budapest . Tours and concert tours have taken him to Germany, Russia, Canada, Japan, China and the USA and South America.

  • “Johann Strauss” Prize at the “Alexander Girardi” singing competition in Coburg, 2005.
  • First jury award and first audience award winner at the international singing competition “Robert Stolz” in Hamburg, 2006.
  • "Gottlob Frick" medal from the Gottlob Frick Society as the best young singer, 2007.
  • Third prize in operetta as well as special prize “Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona”, “Oslo Opera House” in opera at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition Vienna, 2008.
  • Finalist at "Plácido Domingo - Operalia - The World Opera Competition" 2008, Québec
  • Finalist in the first “Luciano Pavarotti” singing competition in 2008.
  • Gold record with the solo album Idale , 2012.
