Vincent van der Want

Vincent van der Want (born October 21, 1985 in Hilversum ) is a Dutch rower .

Athletic career

The 1.98 m tall Vincent van der Want began rowing in 2005. In 2010 he reached fourth place with the Dutch eighth at both the European Championships and the World Championships . In 2011, he and Derk Noordhuis took eighth place in the two without a helmsman at the European Championships .

In 2013 Vincent van der Want returned to the Dutch eighth and won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Seville . At the World Championships in Chungju , the Dutch came in fifth. In 2014, the Dutch eighth finished seventh at the European Championships and eighth at the World Championships . In 2015 Vincent van der Want switched to the four without a helmsman and achieved fifth place at the European championships and sixth place at the world championships . At the 2016 Olympic Regatta in Rio de Janeiro , Harold Langen , Peter van Schie , Vincent van der Want and Govert Viergever took fifth place.

In 2017 Vincent van der Want achieved sixth place at the European Championships and fourth place at the World Championships with the four-man without a helmsman . In 2018 he returned to eighth place and won silver at the European Championships in Glasgow , and at the World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv , the Dutch achieved seventh place. At the beginning of the 2019 season, the Dutch eighth won bronze at the European Championships in Lucerne behind the Germans and the British. Then van der Want switched back to the foursome and took seventh place at the World Championships in Linz-Ottensheim .
