Vincenz Zapletal

Vincenz Zapletal (born January 15, 1867 in Vilémov u Šluknova ; † January 21, 1938 in Hacking ) was an Austrian Dominican and Old Testament scholar.

Life

Zapletal entered the Dominican Order in 1883. From 1884 to 1891 he studied philosophy and theology at the Dominican Studium Generale in Vienna . After ordination in 1890 for the Dominican Province of Austria, he continued to study oriental languages ​​at the Bible School in Jerusalem from 1891 to 1893 . From 1893 he taught as a full professor of exegesis , biblical archeology and hermeneutics at the University of Friborg , where he held courses in Latin for Biblical Hebrew from 1896 to 1928 . From 1898 to 1899 and from 1913 to 1914 he was dean of the theological faculty and from 1910 to 1911 rector . He was superior of the Dominican Fathers in Freiburg im Üechtland . In 1928 he retired in the Dominican convent Hacking.
