Vincenzo Bichi (born February 2, 1668 in Siena , † February 11, 1750 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal and Catholic archbishop .

biography

Vincenzo Bichi was born on February 2, 1668 in Siena to a noble Sienese family. He was the son of Metello Bichi, Marquis of Rocca Albegna , and of Vittoria Piccolomini of Aragon and the nephew of Cardinal Carlo Bichi . With Metello Bichi , Alessandro Bichi and Antonio Bichi, the family produced other cardinals.

In his youth he studied at the Seminario Romano in Rome, then switched to the Seminario Clementino and came to the University of La Sapienza , where he received his doctorate on July 30, 1689 as Doctor iuris utriusque . He then became a trainee lawyer and cleric in the Apostolic Chamber (1695) and was ordained a priest on April 26, 1699 .

On December 11, 1702 appointed titular archbishop of Laodicea in Phrygia , he became papal assistant throne and was apostolic nuncio in Switzerland (1703-1709) and Portugal (1709-1720).

On September 24, 1731 he was by Clemens XII. appointed cardinal priest. On September 23, 1743 he was promoted to Cardinal Bishop of Sabina and decided on April 10, 1747 for the suburbicarian diocese of Frascati .

Vincenzo Bichi died on February 11, 1750 in his palace in Rome on Via Lata at the age of 82.
