In the course of time, he mainly painted according to motifs from ancient Rome and church history . In 1802 Camuccini entered the Accademia di San Luca , whose princeps (president) he became four years later. From then on he found important sponsors who gave him public contracts: Pope Pius VII made him head of the Vatican mosaic factory in 1803 and had him restore a large part of it as "Inspector General of Roman Paintings" and also decorate the Quirinal Palace and St. Peter's Basilica . For Gregory XVI. He was allowed to rearrange the Vatican Pinacoteca after the King of the Two Sicilies, Francis I , wanted to bring him to Naples entirely because he had brought the National Gallery there to a new stand.

In 1820 Vincenzo Camuccini was accepted as a foreign member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts . In 1829 he was elected an honorary member ( Honorary NA ) of the National Academy of Design in New York . On August 28, 1830, Pope Pius VIII raised Camuccini to the rank of baron .

Towards the end of his life, Vincenzo Camuccini increasingly distinguished himself as a collector of Flemish and Dutch works. Much of his work and collection is on display in the Palazzo Camuccini Cesi in Cantalupo in Sabina , which was acquired and furnished by his son Giovanni.
