Vincenzo Maria Strambi , German Vincent Maria Strambi (born January 1, 1745 in Civitavecchia , Italy ; † January 1, 1824 in Rome , Italy) was an Italian passionist and bishop of Macerata-Tolentino .

Life

Vincenzo, who joined the Passionist Order in 1768, worked in his order as a trainer of the students of the order, superior of the house, order provincial and general consultor. At the same time he worked as a people's missionary throughout Italy and as a retreat master in the Papal States. After the death of the founder of the order, Paul of the Cross , Vincenzo wrote his first biography, which appeared in 1786. In 1801 he was appointed Bishop of Macerata-Tolentino by Pope Pius VII .

He reformed the spiritual life of the people and clergy and dedicated himself in particular to the next generation of priests. Because he refused the oath of allegiance, Napoleon Bonaparte banished him from 1804 to 1814. In 1823 he renounced his diocese and was advisor and confessor to Pope Leo XII. in the Quirinal , at that time the summer residence and administrative building of the Popes.

Vincent was the soul guide and confessor of Anna Maria Taigi , Vincent Pallotti and Gaspare del Bufalo and also worked as a spiritual writer.

Vincenzo Maria Strambi was born by Pope Pius XI. Beatified in 1925 and by Pope Pius XII. 1950 canonized . His feast day is September 24th .
