Vinzenz Neuling (born October 11, 1795 in Vienna ; † October 4, 1846 Landstrasse ) was an Austrian innkeeper and beer brewer.

Life

Vinzenz Neuling was the son of the jeweler Bruno Neuling (1755-1817) from Neuwied am Rhein , from whom he inherited a large fortune. Among them was the brewery opened in 1817 at today's Ungargasse 52–54. Despite an initially extravagant lifestyle, Neuling took care of this restaurant after a few years and in 1825 had Peter Gerl build new restoration buildings. The adjoining outdoor dining area held around 700–800 people (today Neulinggasse 19, 21 and 23). Neulings Etablissement developed into one of the most popular Biedermeier restaurants, in which all the greats of light music of the time played, including Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss (father) .

The newcomer was the owner of the Gundelhof at the Viennese farmers' market , where he organized house concerts between 1817 and 1822 in which the well-known violinist Joseph Mayseder took part. In 1820 he opened a house theater in which his girlfriend Magdalena Countess Festetics appeared as a singer. After the great flood of 1830 , he supported numerous homeless people as a benefactor. He was the district director for the poor and a member of the Outer Council of the City of Vienna.

Vinzenz Neuling was buried in the now abandoned Währing local cemetery; his gravestone is still in the grave grove of today's Schubert Park.
