Virgilio de los Reyes

Virgilio de los Reyes is a Filipino lawyer , university professor and politician .

biography

After attending school, he studied business administration and law at the University of the Philippines , where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS Business Administration) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). He then completed a postgraduate degree in international relations at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Medford with a Master of Arts (MA International Relations).

After his admission he worked as a lawyer and as such also one of the founding members of LIBERTAS, an association of lawyers for human rights and judicial reforms. Later he was also the founder of the law firm De Los Reyes Law Office and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GoVida Studios, Inc. and Senior Partner of Moncupa, de los Reyes, Amorin Law Office . During this time he specialized in civil litigation , corporate law , agricultural law , land use law and personal property rights .

For some time he was Undersecretary of State for Politics, Planning and Legal Affairs in the Department of Agrarian Reform and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board . Between 2003 and 2004 he was an International Fellow at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota , focusing on the areas of international business law , human rights and agricultural law.

He then accepted the position as professor of business law at the Graduate School of Business (department of accounting, finance, economics and administration) of the University of De La Salle (DLSU) in Manila and was also Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law ( College of Law ) the DLSU.

After the elections in the Philippines in 2010, Virgilio de los Reyes was on June 30, 2010 by President Benigno Aquino III. appointed Secretary of Agrarian Reform in his cabinet.
