Virginia Bruce
Virginia Bruce , actually Helen Virginia Briggs (born September 29, 1910 in Minneapolis , Minnesota , † February 24, 1982 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , California ), was an American actress and singer .
Bruce was born Helen Virginia Briggs in Minneapolis on September 29, 1910. She began her career with minor roles in Hollywood and appearances on Broadway . In 1932 she married the actor John Gilbert , from whom she divorced in 1934. In 1937 she married the director J. Walter Ruben , with whom she had a son. Ruben died in 1942. In 1946 she married Ali Ipar, from whom she divorced in 1964.
Virginia Bruce died on February 24, 1982 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles of complications from cancer.
She was the first to perform the song I've Got You Under My Skin .
