Vladan Matijević
Vladan Matijević ( Serbian-Cyrillic : Владан Матијевић; born November 16, 1962 in Čačak , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian writer .
life and work
Vladan Matijević, after completing his degree as a technical engineer, worked for eighteen years in a chemical base factory and since 2005 he has been the editor of the publications of the Nadežda Petrović Gallery in his hometown. He is one of the most widely read contemporary authors in Serbia and his books can definitely be described as bestsellers , although in an interview with the Austrian daily Der Standard he relativized this success with the modest statement that the print runs in his country are quite small .
His novel Časovi radosti with the title The Adventures of Kitty A. was published in German translation by Schirmer Graf in Munich in 2009 . The book cover for the German edition was designed by Xenia Hausner . His short story The New Arrival (translated by Mascha Dabić ) was published by the Austrian literary magazine Triëdere . In German-speaking countries, Matijević took part in an event organized by the Austrian literary group Podium in Café Prückel in 2009 and as a guest at the Leipzig Book Fair in 2011 . Honored with some of the most important literary prizes in his country, including the Andrić Prize , the NIN Literature Prize and the Isidora Sekulić Prize , the writer lives in a suburb of his native city.
