Vladimir Kranjčević

Vladimir Kranjčević (born November 22, 1936 in Zagreb , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ; † February 9, 2020 in Zagreb, Croatia ) was a Yugoslav and Croatian conductor and professor at the Zagreb Music Academy.

Life

Kranjčević studied piano with Ladislav Šaban at the Zagreb Music Academy . After an injury to the hand prevented him from playing the piano, he studied conducting with Slavko Zlatić and Igor Markevitch . In 1980 he obtained a master's degree in conducting with Vojislav Ilić at the Music Faculty of the University of Arts in Belgrade .

In the 1980s he conducted the mixed choir and the radio symphony orchestra of Radiotelevizija Zagreb and for the music production of Radiotelevizija Beograd . Later he conducted the chamber opera of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb .

From 1995 he was associate professor and from 2000 full professor at the Zagreb Music Academy, which has been part of the University of Zagreb since 1979 .
