Vladislav Čáp
Vladislav Čáp (born April 13, 1926 in Prague ; † December 30, 2001 there ) was a Czechoslovak figure skater , referee, electrical engineer and light artist .
Life
Čáp studied electrical engineering (low current) at the Czech Technical University in Prague , but initially devoted himself to individual figure skating. He was runner-up in Davos in 1947, behind Hans Gerschwiler . In the same year he also achieved his best result at world championships with fourth place at the world championships. In 1948 he took part in the Olympic Games in St. Moritz and finished them in tenth place. Later he worked as an international referee in figure skating and an official of the International Ice Skating Union ISU.
He was arrested in 1959 and sentenced in 1960 to five years in prison for alleged espionage, of which he was imprisoned for three and a half years. From 1964 he worked in the scenographic institute and dealt with light in art , where he could show some successes. After 1969 he held lectures at the theater faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and shortly afterwards switched to the development and experimental department of the television station Československá televize , where he worked until his retirement (around 1990/1991). As a pensioner, Čáp took part in a number of projects in the field of building lighting , including abroad (until around 1995).

Čáp won his only medal - silver - in Davos in 1947.
