The Vladivostok 2000 is currently the world's largest fishing vessel . It has a processing capacity of 547,000 tons of fish per year.

history

The Vladivostok 2000 was converted in 2008 from the tanker Freeport Chief, built in 1980 in Japan at the shipyard Nippon Kokan KK, to a fishing flotilla ship with a GT of 49,367 at a Chinese shipyard . It is equipped with cranes and fish processing machines as well as deep freezing facilities in order to take over and process the fish delivered by the fish steamers.

It has a turbulent history. As Damanzaihao , it belonged to the China Fishery Group (a sub-group of the Asian fishing company Pacific Andes ), which went bankrupt in 2016 . She was sold to DVS-R Pte Ltd, based in Singapore , who also managed the ship and brought it under the Moldovan flag and Russian classification . DVS-R is controlled by the Russian entrepreneur Dmitrii Dremliuga, co-owner of the Dalmoreproduct fish company.

The international organization South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organization ( SPRFMO ), which has set itself the goal of monitoring and managing fish stocks in the South Pacific , put Vladivostok 2000 on the negative list IUU ( illegal, unreported, and unregulated ) in 2014. set. A fine of $ 800,000 was also imposed. In 2018, she was detained for months by the Peruvian Environment Agency on charges of illegal fishing and pollution . At the initiative of the Sea Sheperd organization , Belize withdrew its registration from the ship in 2018.
