The Vogelsangmühle in Poysdorf

The Vogelsangmühle (also: Voglsangmühle ) is a former water mill at the western end of Poysdorf in Lower Austria . The stately three-wing Renaissance building encloses a rectangular courtyard . The building, which basically dates from 1589 and probably belonged to Poysbrunn Palace , is a listed building . The mill was in operation until the post-war period . The building has recently been restored and expanded by the owners.

history

Because of its original purpose as a mill, the property was built on the banks of the Poybach. In 1437 a Freihof was first mentioned in a document at this point. The owners are the Liechtensteiners and the Fünfkirchers . The Frosch family appeared from 1596 and the von Mangen family from 1630 to 1711. From 1767 the farm served as the manor of the Trautson family . Johann Wilhelm , the last Trautson, had it expanded and his coat of arms with a princely hat placed over the entrance . In 1813 Ferdinand Pointner is documented as the owner. In that year Pointner sold the property to Franz Vogelsang, whose name it has been bearing ever since. The mill operation was maintained until the second half of the 20th century. The Vogelsangmühle is now inhabited by the descendants of Vogelsang and can only be viewed from the outside.

description

Laaer Straße has been increased again and again over the years. As a result, the street-side facade with the former ground floor is underground and makes a submerged impression today. Across Laaer Straße there is a long, bent, two-storey facade with a sloping edge and hipped roof , rectangular windows in stone walls with profiled pillars and fluted, bulged sills . The arched gate has a stone frame with the renewed date 1589 in the wedge stone , with a cartouche with the arms of the Trautsons. There are two bay windows facing Laaer Strasse . One of them is gabled , the other has a bell roof . The window frames in this area date from the end of the 18th century. In the courtyard there are columned arcades with round and segment arches on two floors. The corridors are vaulted and have hanging tenons . The rooms on the first floor have groin and lancet barrel vaults. In an upper floor room there is a rectangular hollow vault with stitch caps and a mirror field with roller and fittings .
