The Voio ( Greek Βόιο also Βόϊο ( n. Sg. )) Is a mountain in Western Macedonia . It occupies the eastern part of the Kastoria regional district . In part it is viewed as an extension of the Grammos massif. Its highest peak rises to 1,802 m above sea level . Most of the mountain is forested and a part is under nature protection (Katafigio Agrias Zois Tria Alonia- Mantani-Vounopika - Καταφύγιο Άγριας Ζωής Τρία Αλώνια - Μαντάνι). The main sources of Aliakmonas arise in its area . The municipality of Voio , located in the eastern part of the area, is also named after the mountain . Other settlements are Pendalofos in the east, Eptachori in the west and Kypseli in the north. The Voio massif also includes the lower Ondria (,ντρια), which extends as far as Kozani . The Ethniki Odos 20 runs two kilometers south of the highest peak. The oldest settlement of the mountain was made by the Doric tribe, who took the name Boioter (Βοιωτοί, Boiotier) from the mountain and transferred it to the Boiotian landscape .

The mountain is densely forested with oaks , beeches and chestnuts . While the western slopes rise very steeply, the eastern slopes run out into the plain. Significant chromite deposits have been discovered.
