Volkan Kürşat Bekiroğlu (born December 20, 1977 in Kadirli , Osmaniye ) is a Turkish football player .

Career

Club career

Volkan began with club football in the youth department of the then second division Adanaspor . In the 1995/96 season he was able to participate in the training of the professional team in addition to his work with the reserve team. So it happened that he was also on the bench in some league games. He made his debut as in the league on February 4, 1995 against Beypazarı Belediyespor . For the new season (1996/97) he was also able to assert himself among the professionals and, still as an amateur player, played 24 league games. In the summer of 1997 he then received a professional contract. At the end of the season he and his team reached the runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig and thus direct promotion to the Süper Lig . He was also able to assert himself as a regular player in the Süper Lig and played for Adanaspor for two more years.

For the 2000/01 season he moved to league rivals Gaziantepspor . Here he was never able to assert himself as a regular player and returned to Adanaspor after two and a half years of activity. After a year at Adanaspor, his club got into enormous financial difficulties after the withdrawal of the financier Cem Uzan and had to sell most of the players.

Under these circumstances, Bekiroğlu moved to the traditional Turkish club Trabzonspor . In his new place of work, he and his team won the Turkish Football Cup and the runner-up in the Süper Lig . In his second season at Trabzonspor he and his team again made it to the runner-up in the league. In October 2005, Trabzonspor hired a new coach with Vahid Halilhodžić . Under Halilhodžić, Bekiroğlu only sat on the bench and was also sorted out by the coach during the winter break.

His former coach Ziya Doğan noticed these developments and brought him to his new place of work at Malatyaspor .

After half a season at Malatyaspot, Bekiroğlu played in turn at Bursaspor , Kocaelispor , Bursaspor, Giresunspor and Adana Demirspor .

For the 2011/12 season he returned to his former club, the second division Adanaspor . Here he dissolved his contract for the second half of the season and parted ways with Adanaspor.

National team career

Bekiroğlu played twice for the second selection of the Turkish national team .
