Volker Großkopf (* 1961 in Koblenz ) is a German legal scholar and professor at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia .

biography

Volker Großkopf grew up in Boppard . After graduating from high school in 1981, he studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn . He passed the two state law exams in 1989 and 1993. In between, he did his legal preparatory service in Aachen and worked for the German Bundestag, which was then still based in Bonn .

Großkopf's professional career was initially largely determined by managing the Interconnection Contracting department for E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH. In 1998 , Großkopf obtained his doctorate in law ("Doctor juris") at the TU Chemnitz with the work supervised by Ludwig Gramlich "The freedom of contract of non-dominant companies in network interconnection"

At the same time, he turned increasingly to health law. It was an early concern of Großkopf to deal with the special legal problems of the health system , such as B. to make the question of patient autonomy, medical liability law and euthanasia understandable even to non-lawyers. In 2000, Großkopf (together with Hubert Klein) published his first textbook “Nursing and Law”. In the following year he took up the professorship for law in the department of health care at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia , Cologne department . In September 2005 he took over the office of dean , from 2007 that of the vice dean of the department of health care. Since September 1, 2011, Großkopf has been the chairman of the examination board of the health care department of the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Since 2003, Volker Großkopf has been the publisher of the health law specialist journal " Rechtsdepesche für das Gesundheitwesen " .

As part of a research semester carried out in 2015/2016, Großkopf developed a blended learning concept for the ILIAS learning platform used by the university , which deals with the problem of freedom- depriving measures in the context of fall prevention in people with dementia . Much of the concept is based on a specially made educational film that was later published on the YouTube platform . The learning concept was accepted with the inclusion in the Prof. Bernhard Bergmans from the Institute for Legal Didactics and Education at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences (WH) for the “Yearbook of Legal Didactics 2017” .

Research priorities

Großkopf names the special labor law situation of the nursing staff as well as liability issues of the nursing staff in terms of criminal and civil law as his main research areas.
