Volker Kaukoreit

Volker Kaukoreit (born August 19, 1955 in Dormagen , North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German literary scholar, publicist and archivist. He has lived in Vienna since 1992 and has been deputy head of the literature archive of the Austrian National Library there since 1996 .

Life

From 1976 Kaukoreit studied German and Romance studies at the Universities of Düsseldorf , Cologne and Rennes , received his doctorate in Düsseldorf in 1992 with a dissertation on Erich Fried and completed his habilitation in 2005 at the University of Vienna .

From 1984 to 1992 he was a research assistant for the historically critical Heinrich Heine edition in Düsseldorf and also worked for a time as an employee of the Düsseldorf city magazine Overview and literary editor of the magazines Düsseldorfer Illustrierte and Marabo . In 1988 he was co-founder and until 1992 co-organizer of the Düsseldorfer “Nacht of poets ”. From 1986 to 2005 he was lecturer and visiting professor at the German Summer School of the University of New Mexico (USA) on several occasions.

In addition to the literary focus with publications about to Otto Basil , Peter Hammerschlag , Marlen Haushofer , Heinrich Heine and Ernst Jandl he deals specifically with the treatment practice of literary estates and entered this regard as KOOP-LITERA Austria and co-founder of the network initiative KOOP-LITERA internationally forth . He is also chairman of the estate processing commission within the Association of Austrian Librarians and co-editor of the periodical “Sightings. Archive - Library - Literary Studies ”. From 2007 to 2010 he headed the online project “Directory of artistic, scientific and cultural-political legacies in Austria”.
