Volker Klenk

Volker Klenk (born March 22, 1938 in Stuttgart ) is a German politician (formerly FDP ).

Life

Klenk came as the son of the main teacher Fritz Klenk and Marianne Klenk, geb. Kirchdörfer, born in Stuttgart. After graduating from high school, he studied economics and politics in Tübingen and graduated with a degree in economics. He found the FDP through his professor Ralf Dahrendorf . In 1968 he organized Dahrendorf's election campaign for the state elections in Baden-Württemberg .

In 1976, Klenk entered the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg as an FDP member for the Stuttgart IV constituency, to which he was a member until 1980. His main political concern was civil rights. After the break of the social-liberal coalition in autumn 1982, he resigned from the FDP.

Honors

In 1980 he was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . In protest against Black Thursday with the use of water cannons and tear gas against participants in the Stuttgart 21 demonstrations on September 30, 2010, in which he himself was injured and still suffers from the consequences (as of 2016), he returned his award.
