Volker Krey

Volker Krey (born July 9, 1940 in Stade ) is a German legal scholar .

Career

Krey studied in Hamburg , Tübingen and Bonn and received his doctorate in 1969 under Günter Warda at the University of Bochum . In 1972, Krey became an assistant professor at the Free University of Berlin , and in 1974 he became a senior professor and scientific adviser at the University of Bielefeld . In 1975 he was appointed as one of the founding professors of the law faculty at the University of Trier as C4 professor for criminal law, criminal procedural law and methodology of law. From 1978 to 1998 Krey was also a judge at the 1st Criminal Senate of the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz . At the end of the summer semester 2008, Krey retired and was succeeded by Brigitte Kelker . Krey remained active in teaching.

Scientific orientation

Volker Krey deals with all aspects of criminal law and criminal procedure law as well as legal methodology. Questions about the history of criminal law have also kept him busy. His textbooks on the general and special parts of criminal law and criminal procedure law are widely used. There are also English versions of his textbooks on the general part of criminal law and criminal procedure law, which Krey himself translated.
