history

Ruins in Volkmannrode

Volkmannrode is probably a clearing settlement from the 10th or 11th century, which was initially probably built as a single farm, but then grew to the size of a hamlet. A complaint court and a court linden belonged to it . The settlement probably fell into desolation in the 14th century, with the complaint court lasting longer. A large, old stone ax was found in the rubble of an old church ruin in the village center in 1874.

Volkmannrode was mentioned for the first time on June 27, 1043, when King Heinrich III. testified that his blood relative Esico von Ballenstedt had given him a farm in Fulkmeresroth along with associated hooves and cultivated land. King Heinrich then transferred this gift to the Naumburg Monastery . On March 31, 1051 the same confirmed the donation made in Fulkmeresrod .

On August 1, 1329, Prince Bernhard III enfeoffed. von Anhalt a Coneke van Reynstedt with a wood to Volkmerode . Around 1329/1330, goods in Volkmerode were the subject of a legal dispute between the same prince and Bishop Albrecht von Halberstadt .

In 1400 Voltmerode gave three and a half shillings to the procuration's office . By 1450, a desolate Volkmannrode was named as belonging to the Anhalt church. However, goods near Volkmerode gave several shocks as accessories to the church of Anhalt before 1468 . In 1489, the complaint and complaint court in Volkmannrode was named for the first time.

Matthes Ambtmann zu Abberode is named in 1534 as the owner of a hoof and a farmstead on fields, wood and meadows at Volkmanrode in the area of the Anhalt court in the Harzgerode office . In 1608 the village is mentioned as Volckmerode . Most recently, the complaint court was repealed in a contract between Prussia and Anhalt on October 22, 1875.
