Volkmar Parschalk

Volkmar Parschalk (born May 13, 1934 in Innsbruck ; † August 25, 2016 in Vienna ) was an Austrian culture editor who was best known as a long-time theater, opera and literary critic of the radio station Ö1 .

Life

In 1968, at Ernst Schönwiese's request, Parschalk was commissioned by ORF general manager Gerd Bacher to set up a culture section for radio station Ö1 . Parschalk has not only introduced the cultural part of the Ö1 news programs called “journals” ( morning journal , midday journal , evening journal or night journal ), but also the following weekly radio programs: the literary program Ex Libris , the theater program Im Rampenlicht , the opera workshop and the popular weekdays "Day by Day" public broadcast.
