history

Volksbank Breisgau Nord eG was created from the merger of two regional banks:

On December 23, 1875, Volksbank Emmendingen eG was entered in the cooperative register and then started business operations. The foundation stone for what would later become Volksbank Kaiserstuhl eG was laid by founding the Spar- und Darleihkasse eGmbH Eichstetten in 1898.

Initially, the name was changed in 1925 to the Eichstetten savings and loan fund. 44 years later, in 1969, people spoke of the Spar- und Kreditbank eGmbH Eichstetten. In 1972 the Spar- und Kreditbank eGmbH Eichstetten changed its name to Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank Bötzingen-Eichstetten eGmbH. In 1976, numerous small credit institutions merged to form Raiffeisen-Volksbank Kaiserstuhl-March eG.

At the same time, the advance payment association Waldkirch eGmbH was founded in 1905. 18 years later the name was changed to Vereinsbank Waldkirch eGmbH. In 1941, the General Assembly decided to change its name to Volksbank Waldkirch eGmbH. With this, Volksbank Waldkirch wanted to follow a general trend among German credit unions . The merger between Volksbank Emmendingen eG and Volksbank Kaiserstuhl-March eG resulted in Volksbank Emmendingen-Kaiserstuhl on July 1, 1998.
