The 2011 Asian men's volleyball championship took place in Tehran from September 21 to 29 . Host Iran , who lost the final two years ago, won the title against China this time . South Korea finished third for the fourth time in a row.
In the first round, sixteen teams competed in four groups. The group winners and runners-up in the first round played the pairings for the quarter-finals in the second round. There the winners of groups E and F crossed against the fourth and the second against the third. From the quarter-finals, the knockout system continued until the final. The losers in the quarterfinals played for places five to eight. The teams that were third and fourth in the group in the first round determined the ranking in places nine to sixteen.
