Master:	SC Dynamo Berlin

The East German Volleyball Championship of Women was 1984/85 held for the 35th time. It began on October 19, 1984 and ended with the last game on January 13, 1985. SC Dynamo Berlin secured its 14th championship title and dethroned SC Traktor Schwerin , who had won the championship for the past five years. Third place went to TSC Berlin ahead of the winless SC Leipzig .

mode

The four club teams ( SC Traktor Schwerin , SC Dynamo Berlin , SC Leipzig and TSC Berlin ) played the participants for the placement games in a preliminary round in two tournaments (each against each other) . The first two in the preliminary round played the title, while the third and fourth competed for the bronze medal. The results of the direct duels of the preliminary round tournaments were taken over into the final round.
