The DDR volleyball championship of the women was in 1982 held for the 32nd time. The SC Traktor Schwerin managed the title hat trick , in which after 1980 and 1981 the third championship in a row was won. They secured this because of the better set ratio compared to SC Dynamo Berlin . Third place was also decided by the set ratio, this time in favor of SC Leipzig versus TSC Berlin .

The four club teams ( SC Traktor Schwerin , SC Dynamo Berlin , TSC Berlin and SC Leipzig ) determined the champions in four tournaments from January to February 1982. In the tournaments everyone played against everyone.
