Ute Steppin , née Ute Oldenburg , (born May 31, 1965 in Crivitz ) is a former German volleyball player .

Ute Steppin was 426 times German national team player , only Renate Riek completed more international matches. In 1983 and 1987 she was European champion with the GDR national volleyball team . In 1983 the European Women's Championships were held in the GDR, where the hosts were the first German team to become European champions. The final game of the European Championship 1983 took place in Rostock. In 1988 she took part in the Olympic Games in Seoul with the GDR national volleyball team , where she finished fifth. In 1996 she took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta with the German national volleyball team and finished eighth there. Ute Steppin played for SC Traktor Schwerin , later Schweriner SC , and was several times GDR and German champions as well as FDGB cup winners .

Today Ute Steppin works as an IT specialist and lives in Leezen on Lake Schwerin . She is married and has a son Bastian , who also plays volleyball.
