from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Volprecht (also Volpert) XI. Riedesel zu Eisenbach (* 1628 ; † July 14, 1698 at Ludwigseck Palace ) from the Ludwigseck line of Riedesel was Hereditary Marshal of the Hessian Landgraves from 1691 to 1698 .

Life

Volprecht Riedesel was the eldest son of the later Hereditary Marshal Kurt Riedesel (1603–1665) and his wife Johanette, nee von Lehrbach. He became a page at the court of Landgrave Hermann IV of Hesse-Rotenburg and then went on a cavalier tour to Lyon and Geneva , where he lived from January 1, 1652 to June 1, 1653. There he contracted an illness, the consequences of which hindered him all his life. He first returned to Rotenburg , but then back home. Since Ludwigseck Castle was largely destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , he first lived on a nearby family estate and from 1657 in a rebuilt farm building of the castle. In 1674 he rebuilt his half of Ludwigseck Palace and lived there afterwards.

In 1680 the entire Riedesel house was raised to the baron status . For financial reasons, the Ludwigsecker line could not participate. Although Volprecht had been head of the family, regent of the Riedesel rule and hereditary marshal since the death of his cousin Johann Riedesel , no baron patent was issued for him.

Marriage and offspring

Volprecht Riedesel married Margaretha Deborie, born von Trott zu Solz (1635–1667), daughter of the head of the Althessian knighthood , Jost Trott zu Solz, and his wife Deboria Catherine, born von Otterod-Scharfenberg , on June 19, 1655 in Solz . The marriage had six children:

  • Johann (* 1657), died in the Dutch War against France in 1678
  • Hermann Friedrich (1659–1704), continued the family
  • Christina Deboria (1662-1735)
  • Johanette (1663-1744)
  • Georg (* 1666) died in the year of his birth
  • Elisabeth (1667–1746)

After his first wife died shortly after the birth of their sixth child, in 1669 he married Sabine von Dörnberg (* after 1629), daughter of Ludwig von Dörnberg and his first wife Anna von Berlepsch .
