Volrath Hellermann , from 1743 von Hellermann (born September 14, 1686 in Petershagen , † December 9, 1756 in Kolberg ) was a Prussian military and commander of the Kolberg fortress.

Life

Hellermann, the son of the clerk Walrad Hellermann (1615–1697) zu Petershagen, had initially wanted to take up a clerical profession, but then entered the military and in 1703 became a soldier in the Golz Regiment. From 1703 until the Peace of Utrecht he took part in all Prussian war missions. In 1715 he attended the siege of Stralsund . In 1721 he became a lieutenant . In 1732 he was promoted to captain in the "Crown Prince" infantry regiment .

Three years after Friedrich II became king and took over the affairs of state, he appointed Hellermann colonel on July 27, 1743 , made him responsible for the Glaubitz garrison battalion in Kolberg and on the same day elevated him to the Prussian nobility .

Hellermann died in Kolberg at the age of 71.

He was married twice. His first wife was the Dutch Marie Elisabeth Seegers on September 30, 1718 in Wesel . After her death he married Sabine Elisabeth Brunsleben .

He left a son, Friedrich Georg Christoph von Hellermann , who later became district administrator of the Fürstenthum district in Western Pomerania. His second son Wilhelm (born November 2, 1733) died as Premier-Lieutenant in a military hospital in Dresden during the Seven Years' War .
