Lore

Only a few shorter inscriptions written in the Latin alphabet are known of the language of the Volscians :

  • a bronze plaque with a religious regulation from the 3rd century BC BC, which possibly comes from Velitrae ( Velletri )
  • a bronze plaque with an inscription from Antinum in the Liristal

Next to it is an owner's inscription in an Umbrian-Etruscan alphabet from the first half of the 5th century BC. Chr. On an ax that was found in Satricum. The language of this inscription is also known as Paleovolskian.
