The motor tanker Vorstenbosch is, according to the shipping company VT Marine Logistic Services BV 's largest inland tanker in the world. The hull was built in China under Lloyds supervision, the expansion took place in the Netherlands at Smits Machinefabriek en Scheepsreparatie BV, Capelle aan den IJssel . In 2011 the ship was put into service and travels as a bunker between the ARA ports ( Amsterdam - Rotterdam - Antwerp ). There is no approval for the Rhine . The ship is classified as a Type-C tanker.

construction

The steel hull, welded with Scheldehuid-type side walls , was built in China and shipped to the Netherlands together with other hulls on a heavy-lift carrier belonging to the Dockwise shipping company . Further expansion took place at the shipyard in Capelle aan den IJssel. The tanker has a double piping system so that it can load and unload two different products at the same time. The 20 cargo tanks with a total of 13,889 m³ can be unloaded within around five hours and are equipped with a heating system. A 35-meter-long bunker mast with two 12-inch pipes is installed on the forecastle. The two Bornemann loading and unloading pumps of the type HC 370 are driven by the port and starboard engine and each perform 1,400 m³ per hour. The aft, modernly furnished apartment for the five crew members is mounted on rubber elements and fully air-conditioned. The wheelhouse is adjustable in height.

Technical equipment

The Vorstenbosch is driven by three Caterpillar 3516 engines with 2,028 hp each at 1,600 rpm. The speed is reduced to 320 revolutions with Masson reversing gear type MM W 16500 with a reduction of 4.95: 1. The five-blade propellers have a diameter of 1.8 m. A Veth-Jet 2-K-1400A transverse thruster is installed in the stern and two Veth-Jet 4-K-1400 four-channel thrusters are installed in the bow. These are driven by three Caterpillar C 18 Acert engines with 500 kW each. Two Caterpillar diesel generators type C6.6 with 143 kW each and a noise-dampened harbor generator type C4.4 with 86 kW provide the power supply. In the aft peak there are three independently working rowing machines for the control of a total of six oars.

Nautical equipment

The nautical equipment includes two radars , electronic waterway charts, AIS , various radios , a black box and a dynamic positioning system (DPS). In addition, all control units for tank alarms, fire alarms, gas detection systems, overpressure and air conditioning systems for the apartment and the machine rooms and various screens for camera monitoring are installed. The entire on-board electrical system is constantly monitored by a diagnostic system.
